What Kind of Conversation Do You Live In?

How’s Life?

Most people have aspects of their lives that are satisfying, and a few aspects that are not.  What’s amazing is that most of us don’t think there’s much we can do about the dissatisfaction.  It’s typical to ignore those areas, since—after all—everybody has them.

It’s commonly accepted that there’s not much we can do about our dissatisfaction with some areas of life.  And, once again, since everyone has them, it’s just something to tolerate.  Some people actually try to be satisfied with having areas of life that are unsatisfactory (what?).  On the other hand, I know some for whom that hasn’t been acceptable, who are inquiring further into the matter, and making a life they really love.

You see, we live inside of a “conversation” made up of beliefs and patterns of thinking that we didn’t actually choose or create.  We inherited them from our culture, some of which allow more ease and peace with ourselves, and others that cause unease, stress, and dissatisfaction.  What most people haven’t understood is that all those feelings and experiences, positive and negative, aren’t directly caused by life events and circumstances, but by our own mental reactions to life events.

Some of our mental reactions are useful and functional, and some of them are problematic and dysfunctional.  In both cases, our reactions are influenced by whatever Conversation in which we live.  The good news, though, is that our experience of life doesn’t have to be limited to that Conversation.  The conversation we live in can be changed, simply by changing our minds.  If you’d like to know more about how the Conversation can be changed, feel free to Contact Us (above), or read further in our Dharma ‘Blogs (also above).

We welcome your Inquiry.
